How to record TV programs on a Samsung TV. Recording digital TV shows on Sony Bravia Recording TV programs on your hard drive

If you need or just want to record some program from your TV, but you don’t know how to do it, now we’ll figure it out. This procedure is not as scary as people inexperienced in this matter make it out to be. It is enough just to do everything exactly as given in the instructions.

Thanks to new technologies, you practically do not need to have any equipment; all you need is the TV itself, a computer, a capture device and a wire that will be used to broadcast from the TV to the computer.

There are several types of wires that can connect a computer and a TV. In addition to differences in appearance, they also differ in the quality of image transmission to the computer screen. The oldest and most common wire, connectors for which are present even on the oldest TVs, are AV outputs, or, as they are popularly called, “tulips”. They are the ones who will ensure the transmission of the image. But there is one main disadvantage. Since such connectors are found on the most ancient TVs, the quality of picture transmission leaves much to be desired. If it is possible to use another connector, use it.

The most popular cable for transmitting pictures from modern TVs is the HDMI cable. Thanks to it, you can transfer a picture from a computer to a TV or from a TV to a computer in ideal quality. It is HDMI that is now used as the main cable, since it is head and shoulders above its predecessor, the tulip, in terms of both design and quality.

Before you begin, you need to connect your TV and computer with an AV or HDMI cable. If connected to the TV TV set-top box, use HDMI, if this is not available, then take AV, but this will greatly affect the quality of the recording.

On the computer side, you should connect the cable to the appropriate connector, as well as, for example, Sony Vegas or any other. You can download it on the official website for free, however, it will be available to you for two weeks as a trial version, after which you will have to pay.

What to do next?

Once the connection between the computer and the TV is established, and the video editing program is ready to work, let's move on to the next steps:

  1. select the capture method (you can choose any, but it’s better to choose the option with a digital camera);
  2. Next you need to enter any name for your future file;
  3. select a location to save on your hard drive;
  4. Click the “Start Capture” button and start recording.

From all of the above, it should be understood that the program must be downloaded first. Then launch the desired channel on your TV and start recording. Once you have recorded everything you need, click on the stop video capture button and save the recorded file.

If you decide to capture via an HDMI cable, you need to have enough memory on your hard drive, since high quality videos or photos require a lot of memory on the media. In addition, you must have a processor clock speed of at least 3 GHz for single-core devices. If the processor has 2 cores, you can use a clock speed of at least 2 GHz.

Thanks to constantly developing technologies, there are already various receiver models that receive communications directly from satellites, therefore, broadcast recording can be done directly from the broadcast source.

Among the huge amount of blatant slag broadcast on television, you can actually watch films. In such cases, you need to know how to record the program. Most modern TVs provide a function that helps you record your favorite programs, and then the viewer will have the opportunity to review them at any time.

What kind of USB drive do you need?

The receiver has its own remote control. Source: "Video image audio-video". The sound, however, is only mediocre, the price-quality ratio is still very good. What worries: frequent updates block access to the Internet menu, a slow transmitter changes annoyance, and sorting senders only requires a lot of patience to change.

Since entering the market just over a year ago, the price has dropped by around 900 euros among the top suppliers. Thanks to dual playback gaming devices, video games do not have to halve the screen in some games, but see their corresponding images across the entire surface. Meanwhile, TV is much cheaper. Ultimately, the often-criticized station sorting should be simpler. To ensure you're well prepared for TV recording, we've put together some tips for you.

If a person already has a TV, but it is not known whether it has the functions of recording programs. You can find out about this by looking at the instructions. For example, LG is one of the pioneers in this industry, so there is a high probability that its devices have a video copy function.

Having found out that the device can copy the video broadcast on the TV, it’s time to begin the procedure itself. Most users get lost when nothing works. But the fact is that not only the TV, but also the media on which the information will be recorded must have special functions.

If a new purchase cost is added to such a feature, it should communicate upfront whether it is even supported by the required device. But even if you have a TV with recording capability already in your living room, there are some things you need to consider. Although most TVs are factory installed, recording usually only works on one of them.

With a TV, you can record movies to external hard drives. Therefore, 2.5-inch hard drives are suitable. They are again more expensive than mechanical hard drives. Therefore, inexpensive and relatively large memory in a small format is no longer a problem. Before you connect your hard drive to your TV, you should make sure that there is no other important data on it. Reason: The hard drive is formatted by the TV and is encrypted, making it accessible only to the TV itself. All entries disappear.

What should a flash drive be like:

Even after these manipulations, the TV recording function may not work. In this case, most likely the fact is that the flash drive simply does not fit. This problem exists on LG TVs, especially older models, but the issue can be solved by purchasing a new media that already matches the parameters.

How to record video from LG TV

Many LG devices have a Time Machine function, which allows users to perform a lot of manipulations with video, including recording it.

Please pay attention to this feature when purchasing. On the other hand, a dual tuner has two receivers, such as for cable television or satellite television. The TV picture then freezes and another program is automatically recorded on the connected hard drive.

Some stations prohibit recording

On most TVs, time-delay playback is limited to a maximum of 90 minutes. Operating instructions. Unfortunately, even with the best TV it is impossible to record all channels. For example, you cannot easily record encrypted channels on your TV. At the same time, the transmitters themselves can prevent their programs from landing on the hard drive. Thus, time delay recording is possible with a maximum duration of 90 minutes. They can only be recorded from the respective provider's hard drive.

Held:

    Scheduled recording. Let’s say a person knows that at the appointed time there will be a series on, an episode of which he will have to skip. And thanks to this function, the video will be recorded; you just need to make simple settings for time and channel selection;

    Alternative: Hard Drives

    • Don't leave important data on your hard drive!
    • The device is now formatted.
    • When formatting is finished, you can start recording.
    • Press the "Record" button on the remote control.
    • While recording, you can adjust the recording length.
    • Find the program you want to record and press the "Confirm" key.
    • Then select Record Recording.
    • Click the "Advanced" button.
    • Then wipe the touchpad to the right and go to the "red dot".
    Not all TVs have a recording function - but with some better-equipped models it is standard in the meantime.

    It should be said again that it will not be possible to capture analog television programs, but there will be no problems with recording most cable and digital signals. By the way, this activity is illegal, which is why many manufacturing companies have placed restrictions on the ability to record, including the LG company.

    How much memory do I need?

    Using them usually requires external media. In principle, storage drives and hard drives are suitable here. Some TVs do not accept memory cards and only record to hard drives. However, statements in the manual are not always reliable. There are no sticks in this size, there is practically no way on a hard drive.

    Does this work with every stick?

    One factor is the speed at which embroidery can write and read data. If it is too low, recording will not work. TVs check the compatibility of connected media when they are formatted for recording. This is done automatically as soon as the media is connected to the TV for the first time, or the user must launch it through the operating menu.

    Let's consider a very typical situation. You are about to go out for a walk or to a club with your friends, and at this time your favorite TV program starts on TV. What to do in this case? Fortunately, there is already a solution to this problem, and now you don’t have to be torn between your friends and your TV. You can simply press the record button on the TV remote, leave the TV on and calmly go for a walk with friends. And when you return, you can watch the recorded TV show, which will be saved to a flash drive (or external HDD) connected to the USB port of your TV. You can also change some settings, and the recorded shows will be immediately saved over the network to your computer's hard drive. The recording time in this case is limited only by the capacity of the hard drive or the capacity of an external USB drive. The average size of a 90-minute recording of a TV program in regular digital format (not HD) is about 2.5 gigabytes. Video recordings are saved in the MPEG TS format, which is supported both by the media player built into the TV and by most modern programs for viewing video on a computer (for example, completely free VLC).

    Does it work with any hard drive?

    Otherwise, a hard drive with its own power supply.

    What is the difference between the record and pause button

    The classic recording function is used to record programs and watch them at some point. The pause function - also called "time shift" or "time shift" - allows you to temporarily pause a program and watch it after a short break: simply press the pause button, go to your phone, or go to the refrigerator in the same place. When the viewer leaves this pause mode, the buffered recording is automatically deleted.

    The PVR module from the SamyGO Auto configurator, already known to us, will help you activate this function on your Samsung TV. In the section dedicated to setting up and installing the SamyGO Auto application and its modules, we have already looked at how to enable this option (just check the box next to PVR).

    After the SamyGO Auto configurator is completed, the PVR folder will be created on the flash drive. We will need to make some changes to the file pvr.ini (full path to the file on the flash drive is F:\PVR\pvr.ini ). To edit it, you can use the universal notepad Notepad++. Changing in pvr.ini line with parameter TARGET1 , we will indicate where recorded TV shows will be saved first. By default, the following settings are set there: TARGET1=/dtv/usb/sda1 TARGET2=/dtv/usb/sdb1 This means that by default, recorded TV programs will be saved to an external USB drive, which, when connected to a TV, is defined as the sda1 or sdb1 (for example, my USB flash drive is defined as sdb1). In the previous section, we looked at installing and configuring an NFS server, where we allowed the TV to access a folder on the computer C:\films and give this folder a network name video . If we want recorded TV shows to be primarily saved in this folder, and not on a flash drive, then we just need to enter the appropriate path in the line TARGET1 : TARGET1=/dtv/usb/sdg1/192.168.0.100/video/ where 192.168.xxx.xxx - this is the IP address of a computer connected to the TV via a local network (or via WiFi), with an NFS server previously installed on it.

    Note: you can determine exactly what names are assigned to external devices connected to the TV in terminal mode via Telnet using the command ls(see example of command execution ls in a special reference book on Telnet and some Linux commands).

    After saving the changes to the file pvr.ini you can continue installing SamyGO Auto on your TV). If you have already installed the SamyGO Auto application on your TV with parameters pvr.ini , set by default, then return to the flash drive and manually open the file F:\PVR\pvr.ini using notepad and make the necessary changes. Then insert the USB flash drive into the TV and simply copy the SamyGO PVR module with the changed parameters into the TV memory (in order for the changes to take effect, you may need to turn off and turn on the TV again).

    Recording of television programs from digital channels is carried out by pressing a button RECORD (red round button on the TV remote control). At the same time, a recording icon appears in the upper left corner of the screen. To stop recording, simply press STOP . You can also use the button while recording PAUSE , and to resume recording use the button again

There were times when we rushed home so as not to miss our favorite show or concert. But now everything is different, technology has advanced so much that we don’t have to rack our brains at work about how to make it in time; now we have several options for recording a program from the TV to a removable memory medium.

Several ways to record video from TV

How to record video content on your computer

If you want to record video from a TV to a Personal Computer, you should not buy specific equipment or possibly software, because standard programs existing on a computer can edit any video. And you can record whatever you want from your TV to your PC.

1. You need to connect a special AV video capture cable to the TV connector. Your TV has a connection to a set-top box for digital broadcasting, so connect the cable to the connector of this device.

2. At the time of connection, it is necessary to observe the color match (we insert the wire with a red plug into the red connector, the wire with the color of the plug is white into white in the same way).

3. Connect an additional cable to the S-Video port (if available). When there is no such port, you can record to a flash drive via an AV cable. Only in this case, the quality may deteriorate. Insert the end of the USB device that captures video content into the USB port of an unoccupied PC. You will have to wait until there is a connection and the device recognizes the device.

4. Using a program that edits video, where you need to find a video capture function from each recording device. For example, this could be Adobe Premiere or iMovie.

5. Open the File menu and find the Capture tab. When you open several options, it is better to opt for Capture From Digital Video Camera, which captures video from a digital video camera.

6. You need to type the name of the future file if you are prompted to do this during the recording process by the program. Having selected the required folder on the disk, save the file with the new video in it.

7. Then click on the “Start Capture” button in the editor. You can start showing and recording video on your PC.

8. Now stop recording by clicking the “Stop Capture” button, the video will be recorded in the specified folder.

With such knowledge, you can now record any video clip on your computer or flash drive. You can also make gifts for loved ones with your own hands, recording their favorite concerts and programs on disk.

Video on how to record from TV

Among the huge amount of blatant slag broadcast on television, you can get to really interesting programs and films. In such cases, you need to know how to record the program. Most modern TVs provide a function that helps you record your favorite programs, and then the viewer will have the opportunity to review them at any time.

But there is one condition - TV must be digital or cable, but not analog. There is nothing to complain about - just a few years ago, such functions were unavailable, but now there are many devices that can easily capture digital streams and transfer them to media.

What devices can record programs

At the moment, most devices do not have the ability to record, but Smart TV models have appeared that have this function. So, how do you record a program from a Smart TV?

If a person already has a TV, but it is not known whether it has the functions of recording programs. You can find out about this by looking at the instructions. For example, LG is one of the pioneers in this industry, so there is a high probability that its devices have a video copy function.

Having found out that the device can copy the video broadcast on the TV, it’s time to begin the procedure itself. Most users get lost when nothing works. But the fact is that not only the TV, but also the media on which the information will be recorded must have special functions.

What should a flash drive be like:

    The flash drive must be formatted on the TV from which TV programs are recorded. Typically this is done through the Smart HUB;

    The flash drive must be checked on the TV by performing a simple manipulation: press the “Source” button, select the “USB” flash drive and click “Tools”. By the way, if you continue, you can do the formatting itself in the same menu by selecting the appropriate item.

Even after these manipulations, the TV recording function may not work. In this case, most likely the fact is that the flash drive simply does not fit. This problem exists on LG TVs, especially older models, but the issue can be solved by purchasing a new media that already matches the parameters.

How to record video from LG TV

Many LG devices have the Time Machine function, which allows users to perform a lot of manipulations with video, including recording it.

Held:

    Scheduled recording. Let’s say a person knows that at the appointed time there will be a series on, an episode of which he will have to skip. And thanks to this function, the video will be recorded; you just need to make simple settings for time and channel selection;

    The recording can be played back directly on the TV;

    Live Playback function, which helps to rewind the picture in real time.

But there are also restrictions that apply to LG TVs:

    If a digital channel is broadcast via a satellite dish, not everyone has the opportunity to record it;

    If the provider has blocked the signal from copying, then it will not be possible to record it;

    If a video was recorded on one TV, another device will not be able to play it.

What is the copying procedure like? Everything is very simple, here are the instructions for the LG 47LA662V as an example:

    Insert the flash drive into the slot on the rear panel and initialize it. Be careful, all data on the media will be erased.

    Find the “Record” item in the menu and click on it.

    If the recording is finished, you need to click “Stop recording” in the menu.

    To watch the recording, find “Recorded TV program” in the menu.

If the device has a Smart TV, then all manipulations are also performed through the “Menu”.

How to record a movie from a Samsung TV

The abundance of high-quality Samsung TV models on the market is amazing. Therefore, it is not surprising that many users are interested in how to record a program on these devices? Everything is very simple - actions are performed according to the same principle. Let's look at an example for Samsung UE40F6540ABb:

    You can start from two points - by opening the “Menu” or from “Photos, videos, music”;

    Find the “Recorded TV-pr” application and click on this item. At this moment, the flash drive that was installed earlier will be formatted and all information will be erased from it;

    Specify action parameters.

By the way, some models of Samsung devices have a so-called “Schedule Manager”, which indicates the channel from which the video will be taken, the date, time and duration of the recording process. And if one recorded program is not enough, you can make a whole series of recording repeats, indicating their frequency. It’s very convenient, especially if you don’t have time to constantly sit near the TV and watch how the procedure is going.

It should be said again that it will not be possible to capture analog television programs, but there will be no problems with recording most cable and digital signals. By the way, this activity is illegal, which is why many manufacturing companies have placed restrictions on the ability to record, including the LG company.

Enter the search term “Watching or recording programs” “Program for watching TV” in the search bar. You will be presented with a list of sites where you can download the desired program, since it is thanks to them that users have the opportunity to view their favorite channels and programs on their computer, as well as record them.

The download may not be necessary if you have Windows Media Center installed on your computer. In it you can configure the necessary parameters (including setting automatic recording). The program's interface is quite pleasant; you don't have to spend a lot of time figuring it out. Each recorded show will be saved in the Windows Recorded TV Shows folder with the extension WTV. However, do not forget that to play files you will need a TV tuner - a device that is connected to the computer via an expansion socket, as well as via an antenna or cable.

In addition, there is a program called TV Player Classic, which allows you to view channels not only through a TV tuner, but also without it. All channels can be streamed directly via an internet connection. In total, the developers of this software offer users about 1,200 free channels, as well as 20 paid Russian-language and 400 international ones. By the way, to watch and record programs you do not need to install additional software (for example, Real player or Windows media player). The program is supported by all versions of Windows, including Windows Vista.

note

The developers of some programs recommend watching an online or recorded program through a TV. The fact is that due to a smaller monitor than a TV, image quality may suffer. Therefore, it is better to connect both devices using the TV-OUT connector (most video cards of the latest models support this mode).

Live broadcast allows you to follow the progress of certain events in real time. But it also happens that it is necessary to record a live broadcast for the purpose of later viewing or listening to it. This operation can be carried out using a computer or specialized devices.

Instructions

To record a live radio broadcast on a tape recorder, using a tape recorder, insert the cassette into its tape drive mechanism. If there are two such mechanisms, install the cassette in the one that has a record button. Turn off the receiver and find free space on the cassette. Make sure the tape's write-protect tab is not broken. If so, cover the hole with tape. Turn on the radio receiver again, put the cassette in place, and then press the record and playback keys simultaneously.

If the receiver and receiver are separate, connect them together with a special cable. Connect it between the receiver's line output and line input. It is not recommended to record by bringing the tape recorder's microphone close to the receiver's speaker - the sound quality will be extremely low.

To record a radio broadcast using a computer, connect the receiver to the line input of its sound card. Unlike microphone, it is stereophonic. On your own, use the Audacity software package.

Inexpensive sound cards may not have a line input. Then use a microphone, connecting the receiver to it through a capacitor with a capacity of about 0.1 microfarads. The recording will be monophonic.

If you are recording a signal from an amplitude modulation radio, the radio may receive interference from your computer. You will have to space the devices several meters apart. If the computer's influence on the receiver continues, use the method of recording through a microphone placed near the speaker. The quality of the recording will have to be sacrificed in order for the receiver to be able to receive the signal at all.

To record a TV show on a VCR, turn on the low-frequency input on the TV or tune it to the channel on which the device’s modulator operates. Set the VCR itself to the desired channel. Insert the cassette into it and rewind it to the free space. Start recording with the REC button.

There are video players with a recording function. They differ from VCRs in the absence of a tuner. Connect such a device not only to the inputs, but also to the outputs of the TV. Tune the TV itself to the desired channel. Before searching for free space on the tape, switch the TV to the low-frequency input, and before recording, switch back to the built-in tuner. Remember that video cassettes also have write protection tabs.

To put a disc into a DVD recorder that has not yet been finalized. On the TV, turn on the low-frequency input, and tune the recorder to the desired channel. Click the record button. Please note that while a disc is not finalized, recordings may not be viewable on all devices, and once finalized, new recordings cannot be added to it.

To record TV programs on your computer, install a TV tuner in it and connect an antenna to it. Tune it to the desired channel, and then activate the recording function in the program. If, due to incomplete software compatibility (for example, in Linux), control of the high-frequency part of the tuner is not possible, connect the VCR with the tuner so that the video signal is supplied to the input connector of the board (RCA or BNC), and the audio signal is supplied to the line input of the sound card.
